The London Freemasons Charity has generously set up the Metropolitan Almoners Fund (MAF) which has been created to provide speedy emergency relief from distress for London Freemasons and their dependents. Importantly please remember this is a Match Funding Scheme and requires a donation from the parent unit.
The MAF works completely independently of the MCF and can process applications in a much shorter period of time. However, MAF grants are purely financial and one off and do not support longer term requirements and are limited in amount.
MAF grants are capped at £1,500
In urgent cases, an application to the MAF should be made by the Almoner to his Almoner Support Officer (ASO) using the current MAF Application Form which is available by clicking the button below. Once completed and signed it must be forwarded to the ASO for checking. He in-turn will forward the document to his Assistant to the Metropolitan Grand Almoner and then to the MAF trustees for consideration. If the application is successful a grant will be raised and distributed to the Lodge account within a few days.
This addition to our existing Metropolitan Almoner service is designed to assist Lodges and Chapters support their members and dependants at times of greatest need. This clearly is good news, and those eligible for support from the Metropolitan Almoners Fund are encouraged to apply.
Financial problems can arise with household expenses, fuel and heating costs, household repairs and rents just to name a few. Acting quickly is paramount; seek help as soon as a problem is identified. Costs and expenditure can be managed and most companies are willing to help.
If your Lodge or Chapter has a Relief Chest with available funds, you may be able to access the target amount required to qualify for Match Funding.
Your ASO will be able to help you with this!
