The Metropolitan Grand Almoner's Zoom Tea Room emerged as a creative response to the Covid-19 suspension, originally conceived by W.Bro. Sami Steinbock and gradually developed into the inclusive and welcoming online forum it is today. Hosted on the Zoom platform, the Tea Room operates three times a week, with each session lasting two hours:
Sunday Mornings: 11:00 - 13:00
Tuesday Afternoons: 14:00 - 16:00
Thursday Evenings: 19:00 - 21:00
Consistently every week in every month throughout the year.
Drop in anytime during opening hours, you will always find a warm welcome.
During the Christmas period from 24th December - 2nd January, the Zoom Tea Room operates a long-day policy and opens its doors at 08:00 until 22:00.
Would you like to be involved?
Our Team is here every year from January to December
No two sessions are ever the same. Conversations can range from serious philosophical discussions to light-hearted banter, ensuring an engaging and dynamic experience every time. While friendly banter is welcome, the usual rules apply: no discussions on religion, politics, or anything that might cause offense.
The benefits of the Tea Room are clear. It serves as a valuable space for London Masons who may no longer be able to attend Lodge meetings as regularly as they once did, yet continue to support our their Lodges and Chapters with annual subscriptions. The Tea Room offers them a unique opportunity to connect with Brethren and Companions from a variety of Lodges and Chapters, not just within London, but from across the country and around the world.
The Zoom Tea Room is organised by Bill Dowley, who is one of the Assistants to the Metropolitan Grand Almoner. Bill is always on the look-out for dedicated London Masons to volunteer to be regular attenders to the Zoom Tea Room and to simply 'be there' for any Brother who drops in for a chat. Have you got the time?
Metropolitan Grand Almoners Surgery
The Metropolitan Grand Almoner is always on hand to listen to any particular case when called upon by a Brother in need. An audience can be arranged in a Zoom Breakout Room for a private one-to-one discussion, in order to assist in finding a resolution to any problem facing an Almoner or a Brother in distress.
Lodge Committee Meetings & Online Socials
It can be very frustrating when using a 'Free' Zoom account to find that in around 40 minutes, your committee meeting has been cut short and your members need to log in again to attempt to pick up where you left off.
The Metropolitan Grand Almoner is happy to provide a secure online forum for your Lodge or Chapter members during the Tea Room opening hours and within a Breakout Room just for your members. That extra time could make all the difference! This way your members are guaranteed 2 hours of uninterrupted meeting time, which could easily be extended if required.
